Western Enterprises, Westlake, Ohio, has
partnered with Lorain County Community
College (LCCC) as the supplier of shielding gas regulators, flashback arresters,
and hose quick disconnects for the new
National Center for Welding Education
and Training.
The center, which will be built this year in
LCCC’s Manufacturing Center of Excellence
in the Nord Advanced Technology Center, is
a collaborative program with The Ohio
State University. Western Enterprises has
provided more than 72 pieces of equipment,
an initial donation that will equip a welding
instruction lab in the training center.
Western is a manufacturer of gas control
technology for the welding and other
industrial markets.
D&S Mfg. qualifies for
development incentives
Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle, on behalf of the
state’s Dept. of Commerce, named D&S
Mfg., Black River Falls, Wis., as eligible to
receive a $250,000 state income tax credit
through the Western Wisconsin Technology
Zone. The program provides incentives to
new and growing businesses in the state’s
high-technology sectors. Companies can
earn tax credits through capital investments,
job creation, and any increase in property
taxes paid by the certified businesses.
D&S Mfg. says the company is in the
midst of a $6.4 million facility expansion
plan designed to contain costs and boost
productivity, and the funding opportunity
allows it to direct capital toward work force
development.
The company manufactures large-scale
components, assemblies, and weldments.
Ohio Technical College, Lincoln
Electric partner in new welding
program
Ohio Technical College has partnered with
Lincoln Electric, Cleveland, to launch a new
