Cy Laser, Campana Livio S.r.l., and
Finsomac S.r.l. have reached an agreement
for the exclusive distribution of Cy Laser
High Brilliance laser cutting systems in
North America. The agreement includes an
assembly operation for the laser systems in
the U.S. Cy Laser started operations in
Chicago last year.
Produced by Italian counterparts
Campana Livio and Finsomac, the laser
systems—suitable for sheet metal, plate,
pipe, brass, and copper—are designed to
simplify the generation and management of
the laser beam. They can cut 0.787-in.
mild steel, 0.393-in. stainless steel, and
0.393-in. aluminum.

Dörken Corp. USA, Grass Lake, Mich., a
manufacturer of corrosion protection coatings systems, has completed its North
American headquarters and technical center.
The 24,000-sq.-ft. facility with acreage for
future expansion includes a science research
wing for advanced coating testing, application trials, and turnkey system development for OEMs and plating and finishing
facilities.
The center, which represents a major
capital investment of Dörken MKS-Systeme
GmbH global finishing strategies, houses
corporate offices, as well as engineering and
applications technicians. Capabilities include
environmental, mechanical, physical and
analytical testing, and coating process application development.

The Laser Marking Division of TRUMPF
Inc., Farmington, Conn., has presented its
Outstanding Sales Performance award to
Precision Technical Sales in recognition of
its performance in selling TRUMPF laser
marking products during the past fiscal year.
Precision is the manufacturer’s representative in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
Delaware, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
It focuses on marking, engraving, traceability,
identification, precision laser cutting and
welding, and integration with industrial
products and production lines.
Daimler AG recently honored TRUMPF
with its Key Supplier award in the Innovation
category in Germany as part of Daimler’s Key
Supplier meeting and its Supplier Awards
Ceremony. The automobile manufacturer
acknowledged TRUMPF’s contribution of
disk lasers to the development of the robot-driven laser welding system RobScan.
The system comprises programmable
focusing optics and scanner optics for laser
welding integrated into a robotic arm.
Mirrors position the laser beam on each area
within the processing field quickly. Spot and
seams can be welded without having to
move the workpiece or the focusing optics.
AWS issues call for Image of
Welding award nominations
The American Welding Society (AWS),
Miami, has issued a call for entries in the 7th
Annual Image of Welding awards program,
which recognizes public initiatives and programs that promote the image of welding.
The entry deadline is July 10.
The program, presented by the AWS, an
organization dedicated to advancing the science, technology, and application of welding,
and the Welding Equipment Manufacturers
Committee (WEMCO), a standing committee at AWS, is open to all welding industry
professionals. Awards are issued in the following categories: individual, section (AWS
local chapter), large business (200 or more
employees), distributor (welding products),
educator, and educational facility.
All individuals, organizations, and groups
may be nominated for multiple categories,
and self-nominations are welcome. Winners
will be honored at the Image of Welding
awards ceremony, which will be held during
the FABTECH® Intl. & AWS Welding
Show in November in Chicago.
Nominations will be judged by
WEMCO, which comprises executives of
welding industry suppliers that work to promote the welding equipment market. To see
