hired Chuck Roberts as
an account manager.
Roberts has more
than 35 years of engineering, project man-
agement, and sales experience involving
local, national, and international automation projects. His most recent experience
was as engineering manager at Ultimate
Mfg. Systems. He’s also held sales and management positions with Valiant Machine &
Tool Inc. and Cobra Machine Tool.
AME named distributor for Stotz

Advanced Machine & Eng. (AME),
Rockford, Ill., has become the exclusive
North American distributor for Stotz
Measuring Systems, offering air and electronic gauging devices.
Stotz Feinmesstechnik GmbH designs,
manufactures, and sells air-electronic gauges
and control devices for the automotive,
aerospace, and medical industries. The
gauges can be manufactured to measure ID,
OD, out-of-round, straightness, parallelism,
perpendicularity, flatness, taper, match
grinding applications, and other geometric
tolerances.
IPG Photonics acquires
Cosytronic
IPG Photonics Corp., Oxford, Mass., a producer of high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers, has announced the acquisition of privately held, Germany-based Cosytronic KG, a
developer of joining techniques and welding
tools. The acquisition allows IPG to extend
its product offerings to include a welding
tool that integrates with its fiber laser.
The latest commercial product from
Cosytronic is the fiber-based Laser-Seam-Stepper for laser welding applications. Laser
welding can be applied in car body plants
and in the production of sheet metal components to achieve long seams for high torsion
stiffness, high processing speed, and short
production cycle times, according to the
company.
